Meet Dr. Meisami

Dr. Meisami is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She obtained both her Bachelor’s of Science in 1992 and Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1996 with Honours from the University of Toronto. She completed her surgical training at the University of Toronto in 2001 and subsequently completed a fellowship in Orthognathic Surgery for correction of Dentofacial Deformities at University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Meisami has been the recipient of several awards in recognition for her academic excellence and clinical skills.

Dr. Meisami is an Active Staff Surgeon at Etobicoke General Hospital, Brampton Civic Hospital and North York General Hospital, where she provides treatment for dentofacial deformities and facial trauma. She also maintains a private practice at Yorkville Oral Surgery (YOS) where she is the principal surgeon. At YOS Dr. Meisami provides the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical treatment, including dental implants, extractions, jaw reconstruction and head and neck pathology. She has a keen interest in paediatric oral surgery and treatment of children. Dr. Meisami enjoys sharing her time between her private and public practice. She thrives on being able to enhance her patients’ lives by providing treatment that improves their function, facial aesthetics and long-term oral health.

Dr. Meisami teaches at the post-graduate level at University of Toronto, where she is currently the Director of Dental Sleep Medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry. In March 2015 Dr. Meisami received her Diplomate from the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) in recognition of her expertise in treating sleep-related breathing disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Dr. Meisami has had numerous publications focusing on facial trauma and the correction of facial deformities. She has presented at various conferences and is frequently invited to speak at academic and professional meetings. 

Community service is an integral part of Dr. Meisami’s personal and professional life. She has been providing pro bono community service for female survivors of domestic violence since 2010.  

In her spare time, she enjoys Classical Piano, Photography, Flamenco Dance, Design, Travel, Fine Arts, Painting, Ballet, and spending time with her husband Matt and their daughters Jia and Sasha.
